Re: Ruffled Feathers. We have more guns than we have people. Guns therefore are readily accessible to any moron who feels they have an issue to solve. The U.S. has by far the highest death rate of any nation from gun violence, including children and adults. It seems the author can’t connect the dots between our high gun ownership and our high death rate. We allow civilian ownership of semi-automatic military weapons designed to maximize killing. As a Vietnam veteran I strongly feel no civilian should have them. With regard to gun statistics, how many of those “justified” killings were the result of “Stand Your Ground” laws which promote violence and how many of our gun laws were written by the NRA who put in so many loopholes that they make it improbable to enforce. I have no problem with the 2nd Amendment but only if common sense were to prevail to reduce the number of guns and allow effective laws to be written and enforced.
