Barnes & Noble is days away from opening its newest Tucson location.
The new 16,000-square-foot store is in the former Joann Fabrics space at Oracle Wetmore Shopping Center, 4380 N. Oracle Road.
Barnes & Noble will open its newest Tucson bookstore Oct. 7.
It's set to open at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, with local author Kathleen Glasgow cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her book, The Glass Girl.
“Tucson has long been a wonderful home for Barnes & Noble, and we are delighted to be complementing our presence in the city with this beautiful new bookstore,” said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “We have an excellent bookselling team, and I know they look forward to creating an exceptional bookstore.”
Barnes & Noble also has a small bookstore at Tucson Mall.
It is one of 60 new bookstores the company is opening nationwide this year, as part of a bookstore revival, including locally where several bookstores have opened or are in the works.

“Our industry is incredibly dynamic in that it relies on our enthusiasm and passion for what we sell, and pairs it with our understanding of how people shop and discover books,” said Bret Christopherson, store manager of the new Oracle location, who has been with Barnes & Noble for 21 years. “Every time a bookstore opens, it creates a new community of people drawn together by shared interests. I am honored to be a part of that and look forward to helping our new community find the stories we know they'll love.”
Barnes & Noble highlights local authors, along with other strategies addressing presentation, commerciality and section detail.
Along with books, Barnes & Noble carries toys, games, vinyl, DVDs, greeting cards and stationery.
