Authorities identified the deputy who shot at a man during a foot chase southwest of Tucson in May.
At about 3 a.m., Pima County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to reports of gunshots at gathering in the 6900 block of West Naomi Road, near South Kinney and West Bopp roads. Deputies dispersed the gathering without incident, the Pima Regional Critical Incident Team, the multi-agency group that investigates local police shootings, said in a news release.
About 5:30 a.m., deputies returned to the same location because of more reports of gunshots. Deputies made contact with Ibrahim Kafi, 18, and two other males in the driveway of a residence, the release said.

At some point, Kafi ran off, and Deputy Anthony Stacy, a 2-year veteran, fired at him after seeing Kafi had a gun, the release said.
Kafi was not hit and eluded deputies at the scene. Deputies searched the nearby desert area, finding a "loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun that was modified to be automatic."
About 5:30 p.m., Kafi was taken into custody near East 22nd Street and South Alvernon Way. He was jailed on suspicion of weapons misconduct, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, the release said.
